Intervest National Bank is offering a 2.10% APY money market account for balances over $2,500. If you fall below $2,500 there’s a $12 monthly service fee. They provide you with an ATM, but you get slapped with the standard fee if you use other bank’s ATMs.
They don’t have an ACH transfer system which is very surprising, but you can initiate ACH transfers from other banks. Your initial deposit must be by check or wire transfer. Wire transfers come with a $10-$15 fee, so keep that in mind. You can withdraw money by using a check, but checks aren’t free unless you’re over 55 years old.
To open a money market account, you need to print their application and mail it in along with copies of two forms of identification. You can also visit a branch to open an account. Branches of Intervest National Bank are located in New York and Florida.
Intervest National Bank has a pretty good free checking rate as well with 1.25% APY for balances of $2,500 to 2.25% APY for balances of $100,000.
Intervest has a 3 out of 5 star soundness rating from bankrate and is FDIC insured. Check out their student checking accounts as well.
