The Miles by Discover® credit card has changed some in the past few months and here’s my review on what you need to know about this credit card.
Miles by Discover® comes with 0% APY on purchases for the first 6 months you have the card for. When you sign up for the card you get a bonus of 12,000 Miles as well as 1,000 Miles every month you make a purchase for the first 12 months. If you want to make sure you get the bonus miles every month you can sign up for an automatic bill pay every month.
Here’s the breakdown on what the miles are worth. You can redeem 10,000 Miles for a $100 cash credit towards any travel purchase including airfare, hotel, car rental, or cruise. You don’t have to go through any specific airline or hotel, etc, it works with any of them.
The redemption process is actually very easy. All you need to go is make your travel purchase and request your credit online and it appears in a few days.
I highly recommend you use your miles towards travel as that’s the best deal, but if you don’t want to there are other options. You can convert 7,000 Miles for a $50 gift card at select stores or gas stations. You can also convert 5,000 miles for $25 in straight up cash.
You get 1 mile per dollar spent on regular purchases and double miles for every dollar spent on your first $3,000 spent on travel and restaurants per year. You can also get double miles on a rotating category every month. Some months it’s gas stations, some months it’s grocery stores, etc. There’s no annual fee on the card.
