The new Escape Card by Discover® is a great new credit card for those who travel or those looking to get some new card bonuses. Let’s look at some of the perks of the Escape Card.
Free 25,000 Miles Sign Up Bonus
When you sign up for the Escape Card you get 1,000 miles for every month in which you make a charge on your card up to 25 months. That’s a pretty easy 25,000 miles right there.
Double Miles
Unlike other cards you get 2 miles for every dollar you spend. The best way to spend your miles is on travel with a conversion of 10,000 miles for $100. So that sign up bonus you get is essentially $250.
To redeem your miles you just have to book any flight, cruise, vacation package, hotel or car rental on your Escape Card. Then within 90 days of the purchase, login to your account and select the number of miles you want to redeem. The appropriate amount of money will then be credited to your account. It’s one of the simplest redemption processes available. It works out to be essentially 2% cash back on every purchase you make.
You can also get your miles as cash directly to a bank account, but you only get $50 for 10,000 miles which is half the amount you get for travel so I don’t recommend you do the cash option. You can also get the payout in gift cards which converts at 8,000 Miles for a $50 Gift Card. If you get a Gap or Macy’s gift card it’s 6,000 Miles for a $50 gift card.
Free Primary Car Rental Insurance
Most credit cards only offer secondary car rental insurance which only kick in after a deductible of $1,000 or so. The Escape Card offers primary car rental insurance which will cover absolutely any damage that happens to your rental for up to $50,000. So if you get a scratch on the car or a small dent you won’t have to end up paying for it unlike most credit card car rental insurance policies.
Additional Escape Card Benefits
The Escape Card gives you lost or damaged luggage insurance which will cover up to $2,500 in damages or losses. You also get travel delay insurance. If you are delayed by a day or more on your travel plans Discover will give you up to $150 per day for lodging and food. You also get trip cancellation insurance which covers up to $2,500 if you become sick and make your trip.
Escape Card Value vs Annual Fee
The Escape Card comes with a $60 annual fee so you need to figure out if you can get more than that in rewards from the card. With the sign up bonus alone of 1,000 miles per month that’s already $120 per year. After the first 2 years it is up to you to determine if you spend enough for the rewards program to be profitable.
If the annual fee is a turn off for you the Miles Card by Discover® is offering 12,000 bonus miles for 12 months that you use your card. There is no annual fee but you don’t get double miles for every dollar spent.

thanks
its good information.
I wouldn’t agree that a reward that takes 25 months for me to claim my $250 miles prize is “easy”, especially since I’ll have had to pay $180 in annual fees by then.
