I mostly write about interest rates on this blog, but another important factor when looking at banks is customer satisfaction. Everyone knows how important it is for a bank to have great customer service and most people are willing to take a small cut in interest rates in order to work with a bank that treats them fairly when a problem arises.
Due to the importance of this factor I’m listing the top 10 banks rated by customer satisfaction by JD Power.
- Northwest Savings Bank
- Susquehanna Bank – PA, MD, DE
- Bank of the West
- BankAtlantic – Florida
- Regions Bank
- Suntrust Bank
- Commerce Bank – Midwest
- Eastern Bank – New England
- Flagstar Bank
- Independent Bank – Michigan

As the Director for Banking Services at J.D. Power, I was just a little puzzled by the highlighting of these specific banks and the exclusion of the highest performers. While these 10 banks did do relatively well in our study, Frost Bank (TX) was the highest ranked bank in the nation followed by Arvest (Award recipient in Southwest and South Central Regions) and United Community Bank (Awarded in Southeast). Just curious.
Michael,
I got my data from your ratings here: http://www.jdpower.com/finance/ratings/retail-banking-ratings/northwest/
and took the 5 star banks from your power circle ratings in the regions where my readers are most heavily concentrated. Do you have a public release of your study? I am more than happy to update this page to more accurately reflect your findings.
