HomeStreet Bank is offering a free $215 bonus for opening a checking account and participating in certain account features. Once you open your account you get $75 for enrolling for direct deposit for at least $500 for a minimum of 2 months, $75 for using your Visa check card at least 10 times per month for at least 2 months, $30 for paying at least 3 bills online per month for 2 months, $10 for singing up for e-statements, and $25 for handing in your old checkbook or check card. That last bonus is a little weird and it’s the first I’ve heard of a bank giving a bonus for handing in your old banking materials.
The promotion is set to last until June, 30th 2009. The minimum opening deposit for the checking account is $100 and there’s a limit of one bonus checking account per household. There’s a $15 free if you close your account within 90 days of opening and you have up until September, 30th 2009 to qualify for any of the bonuses on the account.
HomeStreet doesn’t do a hard credit pull when opening accounts. A branch visit is required to open an account and branches of HomStreet Bank are located in Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. HomeStreet Bank is insured by the FDIC.
