Comerica Bank is offering a “Sensible Stimulus Package” that offers up to a $230 bonus when you open a personal checking account. After you open a checking account you need to register on their promotion page by September 4, 2009. You also need to use your check card 8 times a month for a year and pay 8 bills a month for a year.
For every month you do either of these things you get $5 deposited into your account. The bill pay half of this deal seems pretty hard to get unless you have a lot of bills.
If you already have a Comerica checking account and have had it open for at least 6 months, you qualify for their direct deposit promotion. If you sign up for direct deposit they’ll give you a $50 bonus.
They’re also offering a $60 bonus when you open a new Comerica high yield savings account or money market account. You need a $10,000 balance, which really doesn’t make it worth it because their interest rate is so low.
To participate in their checking promotion you need to call them at (800) 292-1300 to start the application and get mailed the documentation. There’s no hard credit check when opening accounts. Their basic Access Checking Account qualifies for the promotion, but you need a $800 minimum balance, have direct deposit, own a house or be a full time student to avoid their monthly service charge. They also have inactivity fees. I personally hate fees so I wouldn’t participate in this promotion unless it was for student checking.
If you’d like to visit a Comerica Bank branch, they’re located in Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, and Texas. Comerica Bank is FDIC insured.
