Bank of America is offering a free $100 bonus when new customers open either a personal or business online checking account. Someone is considered a new customer if they have not had a Bank of America account any time in the past 6 months.
The promotion gives out $75 for opening the account with at least $250 and making one debit card purchase. Then you get an extra $25 when you make 2 online bill payments in the first 30 days. This is a pretty easy requirement. The promo code is WIWGASINT for personal accounts and SBECASH for small business checking accounts.

Is this promotion to be offered to foreigners, Canadians? — It is called Bank Of AMERICA…..hello?
Called Scant of America DON’T DO IT! Bank of America is a complete scam- They will charge you fees to make up this promotional “true good to be true offer>
i am not sure
They are supposed to deposit the bonus within 90 days, it’s now been over 120 days. I’m on the phone with BoA now, they have been giving me reasons as to why I don’t qualify, all BS. First they said I received a bonus in 2007 for being referred by a friend…that was an old account in another state closed the same year. Then they said I opened up another account and closed it within a year. What happened was, when I opened up my current account, I kept on getting an error message and had to start over the application process a couple times. Even though I had received an error, another account had been opened without my knowledge. Once I found out, I closed the extra account. They had told me at the time that it would not interfere with the bonus.
Well four months later and they won’t give me the bonus because I opened up another account 5 minutes before my current account and closed that first account that I did not know was opened.
Ridiculous.
…they now accept the error made on their part and are reprocessing my bonus request, they told me to call in a week, I called, still processing, told me to call again in a week, I called, still processing.
Not worth it.
…I called again. The request to reprocess the bonus disappeared, no confirmation number, no record of previous phone calls. The rep reprocessed it, again, I was put on hold several times, then their system dropped me after dealing with the situation for 20 minutes. I called back, no record of the last phone call. I then spoke to a supervisor, didn’t want to deal with another rep, she said the bonus request was canceled because I had “an account outside of Bank of America at Countrywide that wasn’t showing up for the reps to see”. I closed that account at Countrywide last year. I asked to speak to upper management, she put me on hold for 15 minutes then dropped me.
Don’t count on getting a bonus, you won’t get it…they’ll create a reason for you not to get it.
Stay away from Bank of America. I have had other problems. In ’06 I tried opening account but couldn’t…another customer of theirs had my social security number…when that person opened their account, the bank rep entered the wrong SS number, used mine.
Love the response you left. BANK of America…HELLO!
@Linny Toehammer
well i opened an account in 07 and they were great!
Canada is a part of America, you all do know that don’t you?
This scam seems to be well documented. They offer no proof that you failed to meet the criteria. Is there a lawyer out there for a class action? Is there already a class action in the works?
This is not the only site with multiple complaints about the same Bank of America scam
$25 for 2 bill payments? So not worth it!
I am also having an issue with receiving my $100 for opening my new account on January 27th. I was told it would be deposited into my account within 90 days. I have spoken with the representative who opened the account as well as the customer service line and the incentives department on numerous occasions only to get the same “we will get back to you within a week” response. Never heard back from anyone. I am interested in filing a class action. Not necessarily for the money, but it isn’t right that they are doing this to people!! Anybody interested in helping me gather more information?

erm, last I checked, Canada was a seperate country ABOVE the USA>. I do not rember merging with them I my history books. =)
@Linny Toehammer
The last time that I looked, BAC just wants online customers. I do not BELIEVE that geography has anything to do with their business.
P.S.
Nasty comments are NOT becoming from ANYONE. Americans have enough image problems.
I opened my a year ago, brand new customer… still no opening bonus, billpay bonus, or direct deposit bonus. I perfectly qualified for all 3. BOA reps initially said it would take 90 days, then it because 6 months, then a year. Well, I waited the year and of course – NOTHING. They did initially try and say I didn’t qualify because I failed to make an opening deposit… well, what REALLY happened was I authorized them to take the deposit (bank to bank transfer) and they just never did it. Luckily I kept the proof that I initiated it! I will be withdrawing my money from their institution. I signed up at a couple other banks and got all my bonuses no problem, there is just no excuse for this.
